055a Angels lecture, Santa Fe, New Mexico 6/19/96

Murshida Vera discusses angels in the Old Testament and traditions 4,000 years before the Old Testament. In paintings, feathers on angels are really rays of light. Visions and dreams come from light vibrations far beyond our understanding. In the writings of the ancient illuminated beings all taught that there wasn’t an inch of space that wasn’t filled with angelic beings. We are only picking up the vibrations and teachings that are close to our planet. We are only beginning to understand the realms of light. There is a point of realization, understanding and comprehension that goes on evolving beyond death; it is on the plane of light not on the physical plane. Death is not the end; it is a release of the spirit, which is in some ways connected to our electromagnetic field. The rays of the sun manifest in the angelic plane and the angelic plane manifests in the jinn plane and the jinn plane sends out the impress of great souls going home. They stay in the jinn plane and impress a new soul coming in to carry on their work. The Islamic masters taught that there is not one inch of space that isn’t occupied by souls. The mental body is one body, the physical body is another body and third body which we name spiritual may be vibratory – planes that are not based on a place. One has to take that idea and begin with it when we accept the angelic planes. Murshida Vera has seen angels from when she can remember (age 2 or so). She tells of her experience in meeting Hazrat Inayat Khan in the spirit body.

055b Angels lecture in Sante Fe, New Mexico, 6/19/96

Murshida Vera describes how Hazrat Inayat Khan gave her the first lessons on the elements and how to recognize them. Her grandmother learned the California herbs from the Native Americans and the things that Murshida learned from the Native American children and women remained with her all of her life. Murshida describes meeting up with her own guardian angels as a child. The angels have been with her during her entire life. Everyone has a guardian angel. Angels have existed since our earliest written records. In the Old Testament, Hebrew angels are people that look just like you and I. In the Christian path, the angels became recognized as guides, guardians, and protectors. The Islamic angels (peris) always are painted with pinfeathers on the arms. Murshida has always seen angels with rays of light with colors and not feathered wings.

Wherever angels are taught, they take our messages, carry our prayers from earth to the throne to the Divine Being and carry the answers back to us. Murshida Vera describes the Jinn plane and the souls impressing incoming souls. The work of the water element in healing, the book of Tobit and contemplative prayer is discussed.

Murshida Vera is presenting Hazrat Inayat Khan’s work on angels. According to Sufi traditions, the soul comes on a ray from the sun. According of the teachings of HIK we are programmed by our guardian angels. Murshida talks about art that always shows angels with wings of feathers but in the actual experience in life of those who have seen angels they are not wings of feathers but great flashes of light. HIK says that the angels set unborn souls on certain rhythms, which determines the pathway they will tread in life. It is called azal, the day of tuning the soul to the life plan of a particular soul. The soul enters with the impressions we have had from a former lifetime programmed for the life we are living. We are programming ourselves for the next life. In the Jewish tradition, the understanding of the heavens and the first heaven is swarloka, the place where angels, archangels, etc. live in the first heaven between the sun and the polar star. It’s in the vibration within the atmosphere. If we attune to the vibration, it becomes our realization and our fact. Murshida discusses her early training with Murshida Rabia Martin and her early family life living on the south of Market Street in San Francisco. Murshida describes an experience she had when 16 years of age with her guardian angel. She saw the wing of light and heard the rush of the wind when an angel saved her. The first stories that Murshida ever heard about angels were from the Old Testament Jewish teachings. The archangels are known in all of religious history. Angels are mentioned 300 times in the Bible. The seven chakras have the energy centers right next to them that allow revelation and perfection.

Murshida Vera describes experiences as a young child that made her realize that she had a guardian angel. She discusses HIK’s developmental levels for human beings, her work with children in the Seed Centers and important developmental levels with the mother and father. The Jewish angel is a person who suddenly comes into your life when you need help and then disappears. Murshida describes from the Talmud that we were a soul in a storehouse waiting for the time to come on earth; great souls going home would stop on the Jinn plane and program the soul coming in who had a particular interest and ability to carry on that work. One must work on oneself for the rest of one’s life; one works on one’s own spirit. She found the best practice to start with is Ya Qah’r, Ya Majood. It puts you into a state of realization of the sovereignty of your own spirit. One needs this realization to accept the fact that one programs the next life while one is here and one’s guardian angels retain that memory. It is the power of the inhalation of Ya Qah’r and the exhalation into the heart of Ya Majood that gives your spirit that power. Once you visualize the heart in the center of the physical heart; there is the soul residence in the core of the physical heart. The soul resides in the physical heart as a tiny flame. Murshida has realized that the first inhalation that the baby takes moves the entity of the soul into the physical body at that time and that the soul leaves through the fontanel. The group practices Ya Qah’r Ya Majood. The second practice is Ya Alim, Ya Wali; insight into your own spirit, working on your own mastery. The third practices are Ya Hadi, asking for guidance of your own angel, Ya Rashid, to pilot and guide to the right path of your own individual life. The practices of Ya Ghani to smooth your path and Ya Vakil to protect you are practiced. The last practice is Ya Fattah, to open the path of the way of your spirit. Murshida Vera has found these practices to be the recognition of the presence of God within the physical heart; also these practices enable one to get rid of the fear of death.

085a Angels with a Sufi Sage 2001, tape 2

The experience of living the path our soul chose for us to follow in this lifetime is discussed. One has to have recognition during this lifetime in order to travel out on the breath to the next plane of realization. The soul resides within the human heart; it is a tiny white flame. The soul leaves the body but does not disappear as our guardian angel guides our soul. There is no death, there is always transformation, attuning to another vibration and that vibration becomes our truth and reality. We can have flashes of that in the body in near death experiences, in dreams, in visions, waking visions or visions induced by hypnosis. A good time to work on recognizing our individual soul in our heart is during the nighttime between 3 and 4 am. There is a law of vibration, and when one is tuned to that vibration, we see, we hear, we experience on another plane. We have to believe in the angel guidance when we experience it in ourselves. There is no such thing as death of a soul; we’re being lifted into another vibration with immediate cognition that we are in another plane and are able to recognize all our great teachers, family, etc. We are related in this lifetime with people as close friends, lovers, mates, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, etc. from another lifetime. That configuration does not end with this plane but lives in another vibration and goes on again. We are group souls and those born within our timeframe are with us relating to us in our future lives. It’s important not to loose the recognition of the light in the core of our own heart. Murshida Vera answers questions about this lecture.

085b Angels with a Sufi Sage 2001, tape 2

Murshida Vera continues to answer questions from the morning session. The real thing is when the heart speaks so loudly it won’t allow one to go any other way. It is intuition from the core of the inner heart. Our main purpose is to expand our consciousness constantly to take in broader, deeper and wider perspective. The angelic imprint, the angelic guidance is always there. When walking in nature, always attempt to walk toward the light and do Ya Qabit, it brings peace and a detached state of mind. One needs a detached state of mind if one is to follow the inner path. When in the silence, we expand our consciousness so we take in the fact that we are part and parcel of all kingdoms. The key to arriving at any wisdom, self-realization and illumination is to expand the depth, breath and height of our own consciousness. The angel guidance keeps us on the path and makes it possible for us to remember our true goal, toward the one. The state of Khayal negates the mental notion of our separateness from the whole universes. There’s a state of Arwah, identification with your magnetic field. The electro-magnetic field controls that which one suffers and realizes. The state of Malakut is when one calls upon one’s guardian angel and physical aura for strength. The practice of Shagal is discussed. The goal is always the core of the heart, the home of the soul. Keeping journals is important. Hazrat Inayat Khan told that one must do the purification breaths all of one’s life. There are 5 stages of the purification breaths. Time is not a fixed thing; time is different in different vibrations. Spiritual freedom is discussed. Murshida Vera presents the Christian view of the angels, archangels and lesser angels, etc. The power of light transcends form; the hierarchy of angels expands itself to man’s consciousness. There are angels of darkness also. Murshida talks about the expanding of consciousness into another dimension while in the physical form.

086a Angels with a Sufi Sage 2001, tape 3

Murshida Vera discusses Islamic angelology in addition to the Christian study of angels. Man’s consciousness can be expanded into spheres other than this earth and has no boundaries. Our first duty is to watch our spiritual body, the divine medicine and divine healer within our body everyday. True beauty is the beauty we attain when we keep the core of the heart pure. Also, to be thankful every day living our lives, I am the verification of the creation by the Divine being. The 20 breaths are the key; one attains to that everyday of one’s life. This expands not only how we think about it but also how we realize its universality; how we see its color, the depth and expansion of breath and how we see the energy that belongs to the universe. The whole universe has this divine power in it. Hazrat Inayat Khan made it very clear in his teachings that these things exist in the angelic kingdom first of all before they are a part of man. Murshida talks about the sparks of light on the water that can be inhaled through the eyes and exhaled to the heart. The light teaching is necessary for one to observe, imbibe and strengthen oneself. The way to mastery is through the light; it resides in all kingdoms. Through going back to nature, seeing the water, practicing Ya Wahabo, the universal feeling of the soul blossoms and the feeling of constraint and depression disappears. The freedom that the soul searches for belongs in nature. So we have to go back to nature, river of life, hold on to that movement, think of how we breathe; breath is life, breathe to the core of the heart. This is verification that the divine beings’ creativity is the humanity; God is expanding through us. Murshida talks about the Sufi practices and what comes from a lifetime of practice: mastering the individual tests and keeping in touch that the Divine healer, the Divine medicine is always there. The true message today is to take in that we are part of all those beings in the universe; this exists within us. Murshida Vera talks about the sphere of the cosmic intelligent beings and a center above the fontanel of energy that transmits the soul when out of the body into the heavenly realm. Questions are answered. She talks about the archangel Gabriel or Jabril (Christian and Islamic teachings) and healing. The more consciousness expands the more it takes you beyond this planet to the far reaches of the universes. The primary differences between the Jewish, Christian and Islamic view of angels are discussed.

086b Angels with a Sufi Sage 2001, tape 3

The lecture continues with the comparison of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic views towards angels. Other questions that are asked by the participants are discussed: light teachings, Jin Shin Jyutsu, guardian angels, healing work through one’s own body to help one’s child, visualization is a part of all inner healing, power of visualization and concentration, self mastery, etc.
